Biography

Dr. Debabrata Sarkar is working as Principal Scientist (Biotechnology), ICAR-Central Research Institute for Jute & Allied Fibres (CRIJAF), Barrackpore, Kolkata, since 2008 to till date. Before that he was a Senior Scientist (Biotechnology), Central Potato Research Institute (CPRI), Shimla, 1993-2008. Born in Kolkata, West Bengal, India on 31 October 1963. Educated at Swami Vivekananda Institution, Howrah, 1969-81; University of Calcutta, Kolkata, 1981-1987; Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, Mohanpur, 1988-93; Deutsche Stiftung für Internationale Entwicklung (DSE), Leipzig, Germany, 1997; Sprachinstitut (SIT), Tübingen, Germany, 2002; Eberhardt Karls Universität Tübingen, Tübingen, Germany, 2002-03; B.Sc. (Hons.) 1984; M.Sc. (Ag.) 1986; Ph.D. (Ag.) 1994; Post-Doc (AvH Fellow) 2002-03.
