Union Bank of India is one of the leading public sector banks of the country. The Bank is a listed entity and the Government of India holds 89.07 percent in Bank’s total share capital. The Bank, having its headquarters at Mumbai (India), was registered on November 11, 1919 as a limited company. Today, it has a network of 9500+ domestic branches, 13300+ ATMs, 11700+ BC Points, serving over 120 million customers with 75000+ employees. The Bank also has 3 branches overseas at Hong Kong, Dubai International Financial Centre (UAE) & Sydney (Australia); 1 representative office in Abu Dhabi (UAE); 1 banking subsidiary at London (UK), 1 banking joint venture in Malaysia; 3 para-banking subsidiaries and 3 joint ventures (including 2 in life insurance business). Union Bank of India is the first large public sector bank in the country to have implemented 100% core banking solution. Recently, Andhra Bank and Corporation Bank were amalgamated into Union Bank of India with effect from 01.04.2020. with this, the Bank’s total business as of 1st April 2020 stood at Rs.15,34,749 crore, comprising Rs. 868632 crore of deposits and Rs. 666117 crore of advances.The Bank has received several awards and recognition for its prowess in technology, digital banking, financial inclusion, MSME and development of human resources.

National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) is an apex development finance institution fully owned by the Government of India. The bank has been entrusted with “matters concerning policy, planning, and operations in the field of credit for agriculture and other economic activities in rural areas in India”. NABARD has been instrumental in grounding rural, social innovations and social enterprises in the rural hinterlands. As of May, 2020, NABARD operates at 32 Regional Offices in the country. It has in the process partnered with about 4000 partner organisations in grounding many of the interventions be it, SHG-Bank Linkage programme, tree-based tribal communities’ livelihoods initiative, watershed approach in soil and water conservation, increasing crop productivity initiatives through lead crop initiative or dissemination of information flow to agrarian communities through Farmer clubs. 

In order to promote medicinal plants sector, the Government of India has set up National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB) on 24th November 2000. Currently the board is located in Ministry of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha & Homoeopathy), Government of India. The primary mandate of NMPB is to develop an appropriate mechanism for coordination between various ministries/ departments/ organizations in India and implements support policies/programs for overall (conservation, cultivation, trade and export) growth of medicinal plants sector both at the Central /State and International level.

ICAR – CTCRI, is a constituent institute under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is the only research organization in the world dedicated solely to research on tropical tuber crops. The Institute established in 1963 with its headquarters at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The Institute has a regional centre at Bhubaneswar, Orissa established in 1976 to cater for the needs of Eastern India. It also functions as a Phytosanitary Centre for the screening of germplasm received from abroad. At present 13 Institutional and 9 externally aided projects dealing with the vital issues related to improvement, production, protection and utilization of tropical tuber crops and also to fulfil the socio-economic commitments of the farming community are in operation at the Regional Centre.

The Tea Board of India is a state agency of the Government of India established to promote the cultivation, processing, and domestic trade as well as export of tea from India. It was established by the enactment of the Tea Act in 1953 with its headquarters in Kolkata (formerly Calcutta). It is headed by the Deputy Chairman and separated into Standing Committees referred to as the Executive Committee, the Development Committee, the Labour Welfare Committee and the Export Promotion Committee. The Tea Board India is responsible for the assignment of certification numbers to exports of certain tea merchants. This certification is intended to ensure the teas’ origin, which in turn would reduce the amount of fraudulent labeling on rare teas such as ones harvested in Darjeeling.

The Odisha State Warehousing Corporation (OSWC) was set up in 1958 under the Agricultural Produce (Development and Warehousing) Corporations Act, 1956 which was a Central Act. The Corporation was subsequently brought under the purview of the Warehousing Corporations Act, 1962 – also a Central Act – by virtue of which the earlier Act was repealed. The Warehousing Corporations Act, 1962 lays down the following functions for a State Warehousing Corporation. 

Mission: To become the preferred and dependable agency that can meet the warehousing needs to various sectors of the State economy by adopting state-of-the-art storage and logistic technology.

Vision: The OSWC would constantly endeavour to provide quality service in the field of warehouse, logistic service and related activities with value addition to customers’ satisfaction.

National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd.(NAFED) was established on the auspicious day of Gandhi Jayanti on 2nd October 1958. Nafed is registered under the Multi State Co-operative Societies Act. Nafed was setup with the object to promote Co-operative marketing of agricultural produce to benefit the farmers. Agricultural farmers are the main members of Nafed, who have the authority to say in the form of members of the General Body in the working of Nafed. The objectives of the NAFED shall be to organize, promote and develop marketing, processing and storage of agricultural, horticultural and forest produce, distribution of agricultural machinery, implements and other inputs, undertake inter-state, import and export trade, wholesale or retail as the case may be and to act and assist for technical advice in agricultural, production for the promotion and the working of its members, partners, associates and cooperative marketing, processing and supply societies in India.

Coconut Development Board (CDB)  is a statutory body established by the Government of India for the integrated development of coconut production and utilization in the country with a focus on productivity increase and product diversification. The Board which came into existence on 12th January 1981, functions under the administrative control of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, with its Headquarters at Kochi in Kerala and Regional Offices at Bangalore in Karnataka, Chennai in Tamil Nadu, Guwahati in Assam and Patna in Bihar. There are five State Centres situated at Pitapally in Odissa, Kolkata in West Bengal, Thane in Maharashtra, Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh and Port Blair in the Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The Board has 12 Demonstration cum Seed Production (DSP) Farms in different locations of the country and now 10 farms are maintained. 

The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MOFPI) has a clear goal of attaining these objectives by facilitating and acting as a catalyst to attract quality investments from within India and abroad into this sector with the aim of making food processing a national initiative.With this overall objective, the Ministry aims to:

• Enhance farmer’s income by better utilization and value addition of agricultural produce
• Minimize wastage at all stages in the food processing chain by the development of infrastructure for storage, transportation and processing of agro-food produce;
• Introduce of modern technology into the food processing industries from both domestic and external sources;
• Encourage R&D in food processing for product and process development and improved packaging;
• Provide policy support, and support for creation of Infrastructure, capacity expansion/ Upgradation and other supportive measures form the growth of this sectors;
• Promote export of processed food products.

The Orissa Agro Industries Corporation Limited (OAIC) was incorporated on 17.12.1968 as a Government Company with equity participation from the Central Government and Government of Orissa. This corporation is under the administrative control of Agri culture department in Govt. of Orissa and engaged in executing different schemes/ programmes of different departments of the state like Agriculture, Water Resources, Forest and Environment, Rural Development, Iindustries, Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Caste development, Panchayati Raj, Fisheries and Animal Resources Development etc.

Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) is one of the major coal producing company of India. It is one of the eight subsidiaries of Coal India Limited. Mahanadi Coalfields Limited was carved out of South Eastern Coalfields Limited in 1992 with its headquarters at Sambalpur. It has total seven open cast mines and three underground mines under its fold. MCL has two subsidiaries with private companies as a joint venture. The name of these companies are MJSJ Coal Limited & MNH Shakti Ltd.

The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) was established by the Government of India under the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority Act passed by the Parliament in December, 1985. The Act (2 of 1986) came into effect from 13th February, 1986 by a notification issued in the Gazette of India: Extraordinary: Part-II [Sec. 3(ii): 13.2.1986). The Authority replaced the Processed Food Export Promotion Council (PFEPC).

The National Institute of Fisheries Post Harvest Technology and Training  (NIFPHATT), erstwhile Integrated Fisheries Project,  which is devoted to all-round development of  Post-Harvest Technologies.  NIFPHATT envisages the best post harvest fish utilization and consumption with the least post harvest losses and delivery of the best quality fish and fish products.  Post harvest technology upgradation through adaptive research to suit the ever increasing and fast changing consumer needs by developing new processes, products and packaging on pilot scale. Dissemination of the upgraded technology is achieved through consultancy, training, popularization of products and consumer response surveys.

Paradeep Phosphates Ltd (PPL) is a leading fertilizer company with an annual turnover of close to Rs. 5, 500 crores. PPL is part of Adventz Group of Companies. The government of India holds 19.55% of shares while 80.45 % shares are held by Zuari Maroc Phosphates Pvt Ltd, a joint venture between the Adventz group company, Zuari Agro Chemicals Ltd. and Maroc Phosphore S.A., a wholly-owned subsidiary of OCP, Morocco. Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) established in 1957, is a leading ISO 9001-2015 certified shipyard on the West Coast of India, functioning under the administrative control of Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India. GSL is strategically located on the banks of river Zuari in Goa, a major international tourist destination well connected by its international airport and major port enroute all important shipping lines. Beginning as a small barge building yard, GSL has garnered reputation as one of the most sophisticated ship builders in the Country. For over four decades, GSL has designed, built and commissioned a wide range of sophisticated vessels for varied applications in the defence and commercial sectors with special expertise in building modern patrol vessels of Steel and Aluminium hull structure.

Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (CIFA), formerly the Freshwater Aquaculture Research and Training Centre, is an advanced research institute for freshwater aquaculture, established in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. It was founded in 1987 by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi. Its genesis lies in the Pond Culture Division of Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute (CIFRI), Cuttack which started the training center at Kausalyaganga, on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar for Developing and Training on Inland Fishery.

The Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) was established by the Government of India on February 3^rd 1947 under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and later it joined the ICAR family in 1967. During the course of over 65 years the Institute has emerged as a leading tropical marine fisheries research institute in the world. Since its inception, the CMFRI grew significantly in its size and stature and built up adequate research infrastructure and recruited qualified staff. During the first half of the five decades of its existence, the CMFRI devoted its research attention towards the estimation of marine fisheries landings and effort, taxonomy of marine organisms and the bio-economic characteristics of the exploited stocks of finfish and shellfish.

Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture (CIBA) is one of the research institutes under Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi to serve as the nodal agency for catering to the needs of the brackishwater aquaculture research in India. The institute is headquartered at Santhome High Road, Raja Annamalai Puram, Chennai with a research centre at Kakdwip in West Bengal and an experimental field station at Muttukadu, roughly 30 km to the south of Chennai. The institute works under the Ministry of Agriculture, India. The Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture assists small aqua farmers in optimising their finfish and shrimp farming by providing suitable modern technologies. They also offer study courses and research facilities for students, farmers and entrepreneurs. CIBA regularly conducts farmers’ meet, trainings, exhibitions, workshops, and brainstorming sessions

The National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) was established in 2006 as an autonomous organization under the administrative control of the Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India to enhance fish production and productivity in the country and to coordinate fishery development in an integrated and holistic manner. NFDB is involved in the below activities:

• Providing focussed attention to fisheries and aquaculture (Production. Processing, Storage, Transport and Marketing)
• Achieving sustainable management and conservation of natural aquatic resources
• Applying modern tools of research and development for optimizing production and productivity from fisheries.
• Providing modern infrastructure mechanisms for effective fisheries management and optimum utilization
• Training and empower women in the fisheries sector and also generate substantial employment
• Enhancing the contribution of the fish toward food and nutritional security

The International Center for Agriculture Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA), a member of the CGIAR, supported by the CGIAR Fund, is a non-profit agricultural research institute that aims to improve the livelihoods of the resource-poor across the world’s dry areas. We provide innovative, science-based solutions for communities across the non-tropical dry areas. In partnership with research institutions, NGOs, governments, and the private sector, our work advances scientific knowledge, shapes practices, and informs policy. Since it establishment in 1975, ICARDA has implemented research-for-development programs in 50 countries across the world’s dry areas – from Morocco in North Africa to Bangladesh in South Asia.

National Seeds Corporation Ltd. (NSC) is a Schedule ‘B’-Miniratna Category-I company wholly owned by Government of India under the administrative control of Department of Agriculture Cooperation & Farmer’s Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. NSC was established in March-1963 to undertake production of foundation and certified seeds. At present, it is undertaking production of certified seeds of nearly 600 varieties of 60 crops consisting of Cereals, Pulses, oilseeds, Fiber, Fodder, Green Manure and Vegetables, in its Farms and through its registered seed growers. There are about 8 Farms and 12500 registered seed growers all over the country who are undertaking the seed production programmes in different agro-climatic conditions.
